Conditional Sentence


CONDITIONAL SENTENCE
Conditional Sentence is sentence that expresses a hope or a picture of a daydream in the form of a conditional sentence. In general, conditional sentence consists of two parts, which is the main clause and the if clause. In the if clause contained conditions that must be met for such a state is contained in the main clause can be realized.
Conditional Sentence have there are 3 types :

Type 1 ( Future Real Condition )
Type 1 called probable conditional, which means that something will probably happen in the future or now when the conditions are met.


 Simple Present Tense + If + Simple Future Tense

                                                                                    or
                              Simple Future Tense, If + Simple Present Tense

Example :
• If  Bherta comes, Iwill give her the message
• If we arrive late, he will be angry with us
• He will not go to the picnic, if it rains
• If I study hard, I will pass this exam
• If she has time, she will comes to my party
• We will not go skating, if you think the ice is dangerously thin
• If Anita has time, She will take a walk in the park
• Our cat never will eat, if we leave her in the house alone
• If I have a motorcycle, I will arrive to campus quickly
• I will fix your bicycle, if I have a screwdriver of the proper size
• Andi will shave today, if he has a sharp razor
•  If it does not rain, I will go playing
• If I have the money, I will give it to you
• If he has money, he will treats us
• I will watch football on TV, if I do not fall asleep
• If Budi has enough time, he will walks to campus
• If you heat water to 100 degrees celsius, it boils
• If  I miss the bus,  I will be late for school
• If I find her address, I will send her an invitation.
• If it rains, I will not go
•If you insist, he will let you have it
•If he loves you, he will be happy for you

Type 2 ( Present- unreal Conditional )
Type 2 is called improbable condition, which means that the incident is contrary to the truth, because this is a daydream or fantasy alone.

                                                   If + Simple Past Tense + Simple Past Future Tense


                                                                                    or
                                                  Simple Past Future Tense, If + Simple Past Tense

Example :
• If I were rich, Iwould give my money to the poor
Fact : I am not rich, I can’t give money to the poor
• If my uncle smokes less, he would not cought so much
Fact : He smokes much, so he cought
• If I were in town, I would go
Fact : I’m not in town
• If I took the plane, I would get there fast
Fact : I don’t take the plane
• If I knew, I would tell you
Fact : I don’t know, so I don’t tell you
• If I had much money, I will buy a luxurious house
Fact : I don’t have money, so I don’t buy a luxurious house
•If the teacher didn’t speak quickly, I could understand better what he is teaching about
Fact : the teacher speaks quickly, so that  I can’t understand well what he is teaching about
• If I found her address, I would send her an invitation
Fact : I can’t find her address, I don’t send her invitation
•If I had a pair of wings, I would fly high
Fact : I don’t have a pair of wings, I cannot fly high
•Anita would not came to your birthday party, if you did not invite her
Fact : Anita will come to your party, because you invite her
• If I had enough time now, I would came to Adam’s house
Fact : I don’t have enough time now, so I don’t came to Adam’s house
•I would buy an airplane ticket, if the weather is good
Fact : The weather is bad, so I don’t buy n airplane ticket
•I would get you some books, If I went to the Bookstore
Fact : I don’t go to the bookstore, so can’t get you some books
•If I had money, I would visit Paris
Fact : I don’t have money, so I can’t visit paris
• I would came to your party, if you invite me
Fact : I don’t come to your party, because you don’t invite me
•If you came home earlier, I would make you a cup cake
Fact : You don’t come home earlier, so I can’t make a cup cake for you
• If I had enough time now, I would write to my parents
Fact : I don’t have enough time now, so I don’t write to my parents
•If I were you, I would forgive him
Fact :  Iam not you
Type 3 ( Past – unreal conditional )
Type 3 describes an event as opposed to the past and no hope will happen as it is a reverie of the past ( Impossible Condition ).

                                         if + past perfect tense + past future perfect tense

                                           past future perfect tense, if + past perfect tense                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Example :
• If you had told me, I would have defended you
Fact : You didn’t tell me, so I didn’t defend you
• If I had know it, I would have told you
Fact : I didn’t know it, I didn’t told you
• If you had told me about the problem, I would have helped you
Fact : You did not tell me about the problem, so I didn’t help you
• If I have known her number, I would have called her
Fact : I don’t know her telephone number
• I would not have got wet yesterday, if I had remembered to take umberella with me yesterday
Fact : I got wet, because I didn’t remember to take my umberella with me yesterday
• She could have finished the exam, if she had had more time
Fact : She didn’t have enough time, so I didn’t finish the exam
• I would have passed the exam, if I studied hard
Fact : I failed the exam, because I didn’t study hard
• If Budi had not gone to a movie last night, he would not have met Ani
Fact : Budi went to a movie last night, then he met Ani
